7787: Where to find Haitian CDs and Cassettes (fwd)

From: leonie hermantin <lhermantin@hotmail.com>

There are stores that sell Haitian CDs and cassettes throughout Little Haiti
and North Miami. CDs are
usually $10, a cassette $5; if only the chains were like this! Here are a
few of the best places to buy compas:

Boujouly, 13148 W. Dixie Hwy., stocks rap and R&B as well as Haitian music.
305-893-8950.

L.C. Books and Music Store, 7858 NE Second Ave., is a one-stop Haitian
culture stop, selling CDs, books and paintings. 305-754-8452.

You can find compas CDS and tapes up front at St. Andre Records & Video,
5912 NE Second Ave., but the real treat is in the back: walls stacked with
rare French vinyl from the '60s. The LPs are not for sale, but bring a blank
tape and Andre might hook you up. 305-757-2112.

D'Zine manager Rulx Jerome owns Galamixx, 207 NE 82nd St. 305-754-1330.
