8243: OAS Approves, Convergence Rejects! (fwd)

From: Racine125@aol.com

Seven Senators resign. Elections are planned to take place before January
2002. Millions in foreign aid is unblocked.

But the Convergence rejects all of this, because they say of Aristide, "he's
probably lying"? Those seven Senate seats, and other posts, will be the
focus of early elections, but President Leslie Manigat, said it was "highly
unlikely Convergence will rally to a solution that leaves the top and bottom
and most of the rest of Aristide's power structure intact.''

RIGHT! Of course most of the Lavalas candidates will be re-elected, it
wouldn't surprise me if all of them were re-elected. That's because the
majority of people voted for them, and will vote for them again!

The Convergence's goal is *not* democracy, it is not the rule of law, it is
not constitutional order, it is none of the fine-sounding phrases they use to
cloak their policy of obstructionism and destabilization. Their goal is
re-establishment of right-wing hegemony, against the will of the Haitian
people.

They boycotted the last elections, then claimed that the government was
illegitimate. It's time for them to put up or shut up!

"I think they would lose an opportunity. But if they want to exclude
themselves from the process, well, all right,'' said Ambassador Albert
Ramdin, the deputy secretary-general of the 14-nation Caribbean Community.

So true.

Peace and love,
