As it some years since Father Jean Marie Vincent was killed, I thought it 
might help some of those new to Haiti to post some thing about him.

Amnesty International appeal September 1996 -
<<Nobody has been brought to justice for the killing of a Catholic priest, 
Father Jean Marie Vincent, who was shot dead on 28 August 1994 during the 
rule of the de facto military regime of General Raoul Cedras. He was shot 
several times by unidentified men as he was entering the residence of the 
Montfortain Fathers in Port au Prince. It is widely believed that Father 
Vincent was targeted by the security forces because he was a close friend and 
supporter of President in exile Jean Bertrand Aristide. Father Vincent, who 
had worked for many years with peasants in the Jean Rabel area, was the 
founder of a group of missionaries which organized a peasant movement called 
Tet Ansanm. 

This case is under investigation by a team of foreign lawyers employed by the 
Haitian Government. However, although some progress has been made with other 
high profile cases, no arrests have so far been made in connection with the 
killing of Father Vincent.>>

Fonkozé, Haiti's Alternative Bank for the Organized Poor.

The Tet Ansanm peasant organisation went on to develop into the national 
peasant movement, Tet Kole Ti Peyizan, which is holding its second national 
congress this month.
