HAITI: DUVALIER WISHES TO GO HOME The former Haitian
dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier, known as Baby Doc, said in a
television interview that he would like to return one day
to his homeland. He has lived in exile in France since
1986. In excerpts published ahead of the broadcast by the
Miami-area affiliate of CBS, Mr. Duvalier dismissed the
current president, Jean-Bertrand Aristide, as no longer
effectively ruling the country. He said that there were no
legal reasons for him not to return to Haiti, but that he
had reasons for not going back now. The Haitian government
has long accused him and his advisers of pillaging state
funds.    (Reuters)
