18296: Saint-Vil sends second reply to Anonymous (fwd)

From: Jean Saint-Vil <jafrikayiti@hotmail.com>

A Haitian brother for whom I have lots of respect but who often makes me sad
with his humorous pieces, wrote:

"I no see that when 2002 November, Haitian-ti-zórèy moun fou like me, write
little better English to suggestion for Lavalas to do exact thing that CARICOM
asked for him for doing now and they all get mad and call me turn-coat. It's
because I knew that Lavalas could not governing like they want to, and when
they do, they enjoy adding payaya into their midst who can do very little but
speak the beautiful word of "give-the-people-the-food-of-nice-words".

This is an interesting observation....but is it really worthwhile at this stage
to play "I told you so!"?. For instance how long has it been since, on this
very mailing list, I have been warning my brothers and sisters from Haiti's
progressive camp that these incessant attacks against each other will
eventually lead to what we have today? When the policeman stopped Boukman
Eksperyans' concert a few year's ago, when the quarrel between Fanmi Lavalas
and MPP flared, when the threats against Lilianne Pierre-Paul worried us
all....or when they named Brian Dean Curran ambassador to Haiti and we warned
that he was an expert in sowing division especially within the media sector
- according to his track-record in Mozambique before he was loaded en route for
Haiti. Now where is Brian Dean Curran? Where is the french ambassador who was
also throwing oil on the flames? They are both safe in their homelands dining
with their kinsmen while Africans keep fighting Africans in Haiti. Do you
realize how ridiculous we have allowed ourselves to become in this fratricidal
nightmare?

When back then I wrote about the helicopters coming to pick up only "Western
citizens" as they did in Rwanda, Cote d’Ivoire and Sierra Leonne, I was accused
of using "fancy talk".

So, indeed I find it useless to play "I told you so". Even, now it is not too
late to help our brothers and sisters come to their senses. And I believe that
you, so-called ‘anonymous’ brother, are one of the voices of reason and peace
that need to be heard. But, it makes me sad and angry every time I see you take
this style of "funny man" to write these pieces that are confusing and
discouraging as hell. Whereby the well-thought pieces you produce under your
real name are so enlightening and constructive. So, please understand that I am
writing this because I truly fear that we may be wasting our few opportunities
to play a positive role in this tragedy. Indeed, it is not a comedy but a real
tragedy dear brother. And, we have an opportunity - still - to give it a happy
ending, together.

That's no political piece... it is as real and heartfelt as your Haitian
brother knows how to be. Take it as is please.

Peace!

A correction: In my last piece I wrote erroneously that brother Randall
Robinson was in Haiti for the celebrations. I don't think he was there in
person - it is only his writings that convince me that he was certainly there
in spirit. Therefore, I stand corrected.
