23910: Beckett: (questions) Who is "General Ravix"?

From: Greg Beckett <beckett@uchicago.edu>

Does anyone know the background story on Remissainthe Ravix? His name
keeps
coming up -- does this mean he is a spokesperson for the "new army"? A
recent
article (in post #23903) said he was the leader of a contingent of
soldiers in
Petit Goave (as of August). Pictures and news items on Yahoo News
yesterday and
today have him standing in the living room of Aristide's house in Tabarre.
Where is he? Who is he?

Also, in one of the Yahoo News clips, it said this:

Remissainthe Ravix, (C), a former sergeant of the now-disbanded Haitian
Armed
Forces, is surrounded by former soldiers who call him 'General,' while
displaying at a photo they found of former Haitian President Jean-Bertrand
Aristide at Aristide's former home in Tabarre, Haiti, on December 15,
2004.
Ravix and his men took over the home and its grounds to use as a base for
what
they said is the 'Haitian Armed Forces.' The mayor of Tabarre gave them
the use
of the home and grounds, Ravix said. REUTERS/Daniel Morel

Who is the Mayor of Tabarre? Who, indeed, holds any mayorial posts these
days
-- have they been elected, appointed by the interim government, or are
they the
same people as before Feb. 29?

Any help would be appreciated.
