Yes, I think that this Haiti info list is academic in nature. More or less. Yes, there are all sorts of people out here (people you have never heard of, like myself) following the postings with interest (sometimes academic interest). Yes, it is a general convention and generally expected that sources be cited when making academic points. If you make academic-type points, you would be expected to back them up with sources. No one expects "other people" to do bibliographies "for themselves" if they have stated academic points -- that's just the usual convention, it is expected that you state your own sources. Haiti-related information or not.... there are certain expectations, conventions and standards when in a public forum.
