27917: Kondrat (comment) Preval's back (fwd)
from Peter Kondrat (firstname.lastname@example.org)
A recent Reuters article on Haiti said in part,
<<Washington welcomed Preval's victory, saying it hoped to help build a new
future in one of the world's most impoverished countries. "We are going
to work with the Preval government. We want this government to succeed,"
said U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.>>
I wonder whether They want "this government" to "succeed" the way They have
succeeded in the States since 2001: gutting essential public services,
creating the conditions for massive corruption and fraud with government
funds (cf. Iraq), cutting health and education, doling out corporate
welfare, tax cuts for the rich...
I can't help but think of Tony Soprano talking to someone who owes him a lot
of money, and is a lot weaker than he is, saying, "Doan worry ... we-ah
gunna woik wit youz."
Don't worry, Lespwa adherents, Washington's got your back!
