30041: Reply Binard Re: 30031: Morse (ask) Lancet Study (fwd)

From: Marc Binard <islandoc2001@yahoo.com>

It seems the Lancet study just wont die a well
deserved death.

Setting aside the questionable methodology and results
of the study, I think we must ask what was the end
result of its publication.

Once again , Haiti received incredibly bad press
worldwide. To most headline readers worldwide, this
report didnt really vilify the transitional government
or the UN ( which I assume was the intent of the
study). I am sure the majority of readers only saw`the
" 8000 murdered, 30,000 raped in Haiti"

Nice job! This " scientific study" confirms the world
view that Haiti is a dangerous place filled with
dangerous people.

Shortly after the study's publication, one of the
listers defended the results saying that the numbers
where in line with violent crime statistics from large
american cities.

While living in Detroit might qualify one as an expert
in violent crime, perhaps our meddling Blan should
clean up Detroit, Oakland, Atlanta, DC etc before
bringing their failed social and judicial systems to
Haiti.

Could some one correct me if I'm wrong. I thought
the Lancet Study was some
ones high school homework assignment and the student
got thrown out of school
for cheating.
