For those do-gooders who want to contribute positively in Haiti, you have  to
look for a community where the people are attempting through their
independent struggles to do something for themselves whatever that something is 
and
help them achieve it. You can't just go somewhere and decide these people  need
banana plants or a tractor and that's it. For instance, you could visit the
Community School of Chatelain in the Artibonite region where workers are
fighting for the right to give their children a good education, the struggle
workers are waging for good drinking water in Arcahaie, and the struggle 
peasants
are waging in the Northwest region in order to get the right to  erect a wall
against the erosion of the land. If anyone really wants to help,  they should
visit those places and offer assistance. Support, solidarity or  assistance
should be based on what the community are struggling for at that  moment and 
not
what a do-gooder decides is best for them.
